Dates before training

That is largely what these are for. A Medjool date is fruit sugar with its fibre still attached, in something the size of a thumb.

How many, and when

One or two pieces about 30 to 60 minutes before is where most people land. A full pouch of three is closer to a proper dessert than a pre-workout snack.

But it is dessert first. Eat it whenever you want.

What is in one

A whole Medjool date, a filling, and a coat of 70% dark chocolate. Each piece has about 15 g of sugar, and nearly all of it is the date itself. We add no sweetener to the filling and nothing to sweeten the dates: no refined sugar, no syrup, no condensed milk.

Every flavour page carries its own nutrition table per piece, so you can see calories, carbohydrate, fibre and protein before you choose.

Keeping them at the gym or the beach

They are best cold and we pack them cold. For a bag, take what you will eat in the next hour or two and leave the rest in the fridge or the freezer.

Questions people ask

Is it really sugar-free?

No, and we will not say it is. Dates are fruit, and fruit contains sugar: about 15 g a piece, and nearly all of it is the date itself. We add no sweetener to the filling and nothing to sweeten the dates. What we do not use is refined sugar, syrup or condensed milk.

Can I eat this before training?

That is largely what it is for. One or two pieces about 30 to 60 minutes before is where most people land. A full pack is closer to a proper dessert than a pre-workout snack. But it is dessert first. Eat it whenever you want.
